Miran named Iran judo coach

TEHRAN - Former judoka Mahmoud Miran has been named as coach of Iran’s national team.
The 35-year-old former judo champion replaced Arash Miresmaeili who resigned from his job on Saturday.Masoud Haji-Akhundzadeh will be his assistant.
Miran finished in joint fifth place in the heavyweight (+100 kg) division at the 2004 Summer Olympics, having lost the bronze medal match to Dennis van der Geest of the Netherlands
